I wonder how many of you GD fans actually spend time listening on portal players such as iPhone, iPod Touch and Andriod phones. If you do, how often and in what way do you use it? What are the most useful features you'd like to see on a portable device?

I am trying to do a product research for my new apps on iOS devices and potentially Andriod too:

Thanks

Thank you all for your responses. I wish I know German to understand one of the posts :)

Wonder if nowadays most people still download and collect concerts on their computers, or do not bother anymore and simply stream from places such as archive.org. Just curious.

I am very old fashioned; I MUST have the physical item, so I DL and burn to CD...not "green", right? Dunno how such things are viewed, but it is just the way I am used to doing things...I much prefer the physical item, and all the trappings that go (used to?) w it (eg, case, liner notes, pics, etc., etc.; like albums of old).

There are even some artistic sorts here--skobud for one--that provide Luddites like me with beautiful artwork for the DL shows that don't actually have all the "stuff" to begin with...

The longer post in German were the lyrics from Frank Zappa's Stick It Out.I still download the music I want to keep on my computer just in case for whatever reason it is no longer available online. As to your other question I don't own any portal players such as an I-Pod and I have no cell phone.

I would say 95 percent through my iPod, and then through my Sony dock with Bluetooth! Once in a long while I listen to a cd in the car and since I have gotten the Sony Bluetooth device I have been using the iPad more and streaming stuff from here. Good luck with your research

He also still says "old lady."

Talk about a generational marker. I haven't noticed if the GD survivors still say that or if they've been sensitized by decades in Marin.

The part of the interview that's cut goes like this:

Keith: I know everyone thinks I'm a real hep cat, but I say, horsefeathers! The dame thinks that newfangled stuff is the cat's meow, but it gives me the heebie jeebies. Well, catch you later alligator. Gotta give the doll a ring. Seen a phone booth?

he couldn't hear one anyway, even with the volume turned on full.

But, with the 'Wall of Sound', he'd sure hear that.

Family of ipod users; little headbuds (?) so we can use them at gym....Mrs Tell, all the little Tells (even though they are "big Tells" now) use them at least once a day.

I will say that most have eliminated the DEAD from their "excercise rotation" (and...shudder...Mrs Tell finally got the nerve up to ask me to remove CREAM!!! Yes, I do help her manage her music acct since I am the acoustic guru round here, and the giant communal library is on one of my old puters--none of the little Tells live at home, but the library lives on, 6 yrs now! IE, devices have come and gone, and in general, gotten much smaller, but the library is the same--all DL from our collection, none from commercially available outlets).

To be honest, since I've had to cut down on gym trips, my primary listening is in the car/truck. Same for kids (they plug the ipod into car player via some gizmo....

Same w/me. I have a Yamaha dock and that's where it stays on top of the Yamaha avr RX-V665.When either borrowing
CDs from friends or the library after importing into the computer then sync to the POD and away we go.I do really like I-NET radio and I-pods running through my big system.....

I generally DL music to the computer, then load up the iPod or iPad. I listen to music daily on my commute, even though the subway din makes it challenging. We have at least 4 devices. I do most of my streaming through desktop at home or work. That said, your app looks interesting - enough to try streaming direct to the mobile devices.

I listen through 'vibe vault' on an android tablet. Works fine, however,
If there was a way to eliminate pause between tracks...
Its only a second or two,but to interrupt the flow between some of the other one tracks,scarlet/fires etc is brutal. Especially some of them that are split up every time they change direction. When I was frantically burning discs 10 years ago,was certain the 'no pause between tracks' option was created for the Dead.
